2003 ASP Tamper ContestASP Tamper Carving Contest Entries• 2003 ASP Tamper Carving Contest Winners! Welcome to the 2nd annual ASP Tamper Contest! With the success of last year's contest (14 entries) We've decided to hold the contest again this year. We've incorporated some of the comments and suggestions from last year. This year's contest has one kit. It is a black and silver acrylic tamper kit. The example shown is a pen made from the same material. All contestants will receive the same color and materials. The kit is somewhat round, but the material does have a few ridges from the extrusion process. Every effort will be made to fill the orders for the kits. There are only 6 tamper kits remaining. They will be sold on a first come, first served basis. Last year's winner, Robbie Witherspoon, has entered to defend his title. Robbie says, "I thought I should defend my title, but I suspect the competition will be stiffer this year. It was a lot of fun last time." Contest RulesPurchase a tamper kit from this web site for US$20.00 which includes shipping via USPS Priority Mail in the US and Canada. Orders from outside the U.S. and Canada please use the International button, an additional US$5.00 will be added to cover additional shipping. Due to the limited supply of this material, there is a limit of one kit per person. The timeline for the contest is as follows:
Carving can be done using any means you desire with one exception: you can't have someone else do it for you ;-). The material can be turned with care and sands very well. It has a relatively low melting point so it does tend to melt when sanded at a high speed with a belt-sander. Once you have finished your tamper, e-mails your pictures to us. For the contest we prefer four photographs (in jpg format), one from each side. We want people (voters) to get a good look at the shape from each side. We'll post some voting guidelines later. All tamper entries are in. Not everyone that purchased a kit sent in pictures. If there is no photograph for a given tamper number, that means we have not received an entry. Please move on to the next tab. Each contestant was responsible for their own photography. Custom Tampers did not enhance any of the images. They were all cropped and sized to about 500 pixels in height. The rules for voting on tampers are listed below.
1. You will be placing one vote. To vote, click the appropriate link below the tamper that you wish to vote for. An e-mail will be initiated with the subject pre-filled. Click the send button in your e-mail application to submit your vote. Thanks for stopping by and placing your vote. Results will be posted on this page on January 30, 2004.
